Department Mission Statement

We are committed to leveraging the latest advancements in forensic science to uphold the highest standards of efficiency and effectiveness, in strict accordance with the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures, Article 49.25. Through our work, we aim to meet the evolving needs of Lubbock County, serve the public, and support the Criminal Justice System.
Service Area
Our office exclusively handles cases within Lubbock County. We do not have contracts to perform autopsies for individuals who pass away outside of Lubbock County at this time. Additionally, we do not provide services for private autopsies.
Viewing Policy
Please note that we do not allow any viewings at our facility. Arrangements for viewing your loved one should be made through the funeral home of your choosing. Depending on the circumstances, your loved one’s personal possessions will be released with their remains to the selected funeral home or the appropriate investigating agency.
